Thank you for supporting Owen!

Las Vegas Labrador Rescue would like to send out a heartfelt THANK YOU to all that donated towards Owen's vet bill this past month. We were truly blessed beyond belief by the generosity of our supporters. Thank you one and all for contributing by chipping in online or by purchasing our Owen's Oreos at one of our events.

Owen has been cleared by our vet to "test out" his leg by playing like the pup he is! We are so happy to hear that he has made great progress in his recovery!

Next step, to find Owen a home to call his own. He is a sweet boy and should place quickly!

Foster Home Friday - Playing Catch Up!!!!

For those who have been following the Foster Home Friday posts, you probably know we are a little behind with our blogging. Here are the last 3 celebrated foster families.

Joe Orlando (September 13, 2012)
LVLR acknowledges Joe Orlando as foster of the week.

Joe filled many hats with the rescue since it re-opened in 2011. He fostered, performed behavioral checks as well as home visits.
His foster dogs included Chance and Jerry. He went on to adopt Jerry( now Sheffield), and trained him to be a service dog.
Sheffield's special talent is "sniffing out explosives.

Great job Joe!

Ann & Shane O'Keefe (September 28, 2012)
Ann and Shane were one of the rescues newest foster families. After they adopted their black Lab Murphy, and got him settled into a routine,
they decided to try fostering for the rescue. Their foster dog was Freckles. They did an excellent job training Freckles to learn basic commands, and shortly after Freckles found his forever home.

Thank you Ann & Shane for being a wonderful foster home.

Cynthia & Terry Cartwright (October 5, 2012)

Our Fantastic Foster Home of the Week: Cynthia and Terry Cartwright

Cynthia and Terry are true animal lovers. They have 2 Labs (Dakota & Maggie) and 3 cats of their own, but they always seem to find time to help an animal in need. Not only did they foster Molly and Sam and Dusty for the rescue, they adopted their Lab Maggie when her owners lost their home and could not keep her any longer. They a
lso opened their home again by adopting an elderly Lab (Tigger) last year when he found himself homeless through no fault of his own. All Tigger was looking for was a comfortable place to rest his head for his final days. He found that spot at the Cartwright home. Cynthia made sure Tigger got the medical care he needed to keep him comfortable and Terry barbecued special treats to keep his tummy full. When Tigger crossed over the rainbow bridge last year, I am sure he had a big smile and a spot of BBQ sauce on his face!

Cynthia is also the rescue's media spokesperson. You may have seen her on the "Morning Blend" with our rescued dog Doris, or heard her voice on "Pet Talk with Dr. B." recently.

Thank you Cynthia and Terry for your big hearts and for always being there for Labs young and old.

Thank you for the cell phone donations!

We just wanted to thank everyone who participated in our September Cell Phone Recycling Drive. We do not  have a final head-count, but once we sort through the phones and package them for shipping we will share our results.

Thank you for all of the support of the businesses that collected for us including Lemontree, The Soggy Dog, At Your Service Pet Supplies, Barking Dogs, Valley Cheese and Wine and Sit Means Sit!
